Professor Abdoulaye Diabaté honoured with the title of Knight of the International Order of Academic Palms by the CAMES

Professor Abdoulaye Diabaté, Director of Research in Medical Biology and Public Health at the National Center for Scientific and Technological Research (CNRST) has been elevated to the rank of Knight of the International Order of Academic Palms of the African and Malagasy Council for Higher Education (CAMES).   

As Principal Investigator of Target Malaria, Prof. Abdoulaye Diabaté contributes to the training and supervision of future generations of African scientists in the context of several research projects, and through the African Center of Excellence in Biotechnological Innovations for the Elimination of Vector-Borne Diseases (CEA/ITECH-MTV).   

Member of the Order of Academic Palms of Burkina Faso, Prof. Abdoulaye Diabaté is a renowned scientist who continues to distinguish himself through his excellence in the service of research, his leadership in the development of new tools to fight malaria and his vision for the development of new generations of researchers in Africa.   

He has received numerous prestigious international awards, including the Falling Walls Award for Science and Innovation in 2023. In 2024, he participated in the annual TED conference, where he gave a presentation entitled ‘How to end malaria once and for all’ that has been viewed more than 400,000 times.  He also recently participated in the Netflix series “What’s Next? The Future with Bill Gates” where he was interviewed by Bill Gates. He is fully committed to research for innovative and complementary tools in the fight against malaria. 

CAMES was created by the heads of state of the Joint African and Malagasy Organization (OCAM) following the 1968 Niamey Conference. With 19 member countries, its mission is to promote cooperation in the field of higher education and research. It also has an accreditation system that guarantees that the degrees awarded by the higher education institutions of its member countries meet the quality standards and criteria of CAMES, in accordance with international standards. CAMES is headquartered in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.
