New Communications Officer

Posted 19th November 2021 by Stephanie Wilkes Moumtzis

I am delighted to be joining Target Malaria as a Communications Officer in the Global Communications Team, based at Imperial College London.

Through my role, I will be supporting the communications teams across the three pillars of science, regulatory affairs and stakeholder engagement, and my role will focus on content production, working on campaigns with global stakeholders, media relations and social media. I look forward to meeting and working with colleagues across our different partner institutions, helping raise the profile of the project.

I started my career at Portland Communications, a strategic communications consultancy based in London. I joined through their graduate scheme, where I rotated across different teams, gaining experience in strategic communications, policy, public affairs and media across different specialisms including Health, Corporate and Research and Insights.

I progressed into a role in the International Development and Sustainability team, where I supported a number of clients working in the development and philanthropic space in Africa with communications, global campaigns, media and social media.

I have an undergraduate degree from the University of Cambridge in Politics and International Relations, and a Masters of Science from the London School of Economics in Global Politics. Outside the lecture halls, I played on the Cambridge University basketball team and contributed to a feminist blog.

I’m British, Greek and Swiss, and have lived across four continents and nine countries including Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Rwanda, Syria and Switzerland. Having grown up in countries where malaria is endemic and having had it myself, I am passionate about ending suffering from the disease. My mother tongue is English, and I am also fluent in French and Greek. I also have a basic knowledge of Spanish, which I am working on improving.

In my spare time, I volunteer for grassroots movement Our Streets Now, who are campaigning to end sexual harassment through education reform and legislative change in the UK.

I also love reading, enjoying London’s cultural scene, travelling to new places, and spending summers with my family in Greece.
