Dr. Patric Stephane Epopa is the field entomology coordinator for Target Malaria Burkina Faso at the Research Institute in Health Sciences (Institut de Recherche en Science de la Santé (IRSS) /Centre Muraz) in Bobo-Dioulasso, Burkina Faso.
He holds a PhD in medical entomology, granted by the University of Nazi Boni, Bobo-Dioulasso, Burkina Faso and three master’s degrees in different domains of biological and health professional sciences (Animal biology, Biomedical sciences and health professional sciences, and medical entomology). His primary professional emphasis is on malaria mosquito suppression and modification using heritable traits with a particular focus on the development of optimised field implementation strategies and monitoring.
Since 2012, Dr. Epopa has worked as part of the Target Malaria consortium in Burkina Faso. He is associate field entomology coordinator and manager of the molecular biology laboratory.
Dr Epopa is also a Principal Investigator on a research project funded by a Wellcome Trust grant in 2022, which aims to develop an optimised implementation strategy to improve the efficiency of genetic control approaches against malaria vectors.
