Dr. Charles Mugoya is Regulatory Affairs Manager for Africa at Target Malaria. Dr. Mugoya is an entomologist by training. He started his working career with ICIPE as Resident Scientist in Zambia where he operationalised mass rearing insectary facilities for cereal stem-borers and parasitoid natural enemies for the national biological control programme. For the last 25 years, he has been involved in capacity building initiatives in biotechnology and biosafety in Uganda and other countries in the Eastern and Southern African region by leading, managing, consulting and chairing multiple programmes, committees and projects around Africa. Dr. Mugoya was also appointed to serve on the AU-NEPAD Biosafety Regulators Platform and is currently member of the team drafting the supplementary report on Gene Drive Technology under the aegis of the African Panel of Experts.
Dr. Mugoya received a BSc. Botany and Zoology from Makerere University, Uganda, a MSc. Agricultural Entomology from University of Nairobi, Kenya and a Ph.D. in Applied Entomology from Rivers State University of Science and Technology, Port Harcourt, Nigeria.
