Target Malaria: The Game

Slip into the lab coat of scientist specialising in molecular biology and the genetic modification of mosquitoes to support the fight against malaria. Explore the groundbreaking research on gene drive technology with this interactive video game.

Two modules are available:

  • Microinjection: This module emulates a microinjector – a complex piece of equipment combining a microscope and injection needle – used for injecting mosquito embryos with a solution that modifies their genes.
  • Transgenic Screening: This module simulates the process of separating genetically modified mosquito larvae from non-modified larvae using a fluorescent microscope, pipette, and petri dish.
