New office building for the Target Malaria Mali team

Posted 25th January 2022 by Dr. Mamadou Coulibaly

New year, new office announcement! We are delighted that the construction of the office for the Target Malaria Mali team is now finalised.

Based at the heart of the Malaria Research Training Centre (MRTC) on the grounds of the University of Sciences, Techniques and Technology of Bamako, the new office is located behind the library of the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy.

Target Malaria has partnered with the MRTC since 2012, and this new office represents the strong links between the institution and Target Malaria team, helping to provide a better and more cohesive working environment.

New Office building in Mali at the University of Sciences Techniques and Technology of Bamako

The new building brings together the whole Target Malaria Mali team under one roof, with sufficient space for teams to have their own offices. The building includes a conference room for up to 50 people, a meeting room for up to 10 people and office spaces for individual teams. The Entomology, Insectarium, Stakeholder Engagement and Communications Teams all have workspaces for up to six people. The Principal Investigator and Management also have an office.

2021 was an exciting year for Target Malaria Mali, as we concluded two years of contained studies on non-gene drive genetically modified sterile male mosquitoes housed in our ACL-2 insectary. With a new office space for 2022 and exciting work in the pipeline, I look forward to everything that this year brings for our team.

On behalf of the entire Target Malaria Mali team, I would like to extend my thanks to all those involved with helping with the realisation of this new office, marking an exciting new chapter for the Mali team.
