New assistant communications officer 

I am excited to be officially joining Target Malaria as an Assistant Communications Officer in the Global Communications Team, based at Imperial College London. 

I started on the project as a Social Media Assistant for an internship, and in my short time I have learned a lot about the project and communications. Through my role I will be helping raise the project’s profile focusing on social media through campaigns, content creation and media production. During my internship, I helped the team with the World Malaria Day campaign and the International Day of Women and Girls in Science short campaign. 

Newly graduated, I have BA Honours from Kingston University London in Media and Communication with a year abroad in Seoul, South Korea at Yonsei University. Whilst at university, I also supported the Black Minority Ethnic Alumni Advisory Group as the social media assistant. The aim of the group was to bring unity, understanding and a safe space to celebrate equality, diversity and inclusion in the University space.   

I am Finnish and Ghanaian, and moved to London with my family over a decade ago. Being Ghanaian, I feel a special connection to the work Target Malaria is doing and I feel proud being able to say I work for Target Malaria. I have a strong sense of duty to help spread awareness and support a project working on a technology that has the potential to contribute towards finally ending malaria.   

I speak English, Swedish and Finnish fluently, and I am conversational in Korean. I also studied Spanish and Mandarin for many years at school. I love learning languages and have a goal of speaking 10 languages, so I’ve spent varying amounts of time learning Portuguese, Indonesian and Twi. Since joining the project, I have also started learning French which I’m hoping to advance in quickly.  

In my spare time, I enjoy traveling, experiencing different cultures and creating content such as short videos for social media.
