In early June, I was invited to the launch of called ‘Hope for Life on Our Planet: Inspiration for Seven Generations, a new book edited by Norwegian entrepreneur and investor Osvald Bjelland. The event was co-hosted by Lord John Browne of Madingley at The Courtauld Institute of Art in London. Hope for Life on our Planet is an anthology comprised of 6o+ contributions from thinkers and doers across sectors, cultures and continents, with the aim of bringing much-needed hope to navigate uncertain times in today’s world.

I was invited to share my perspective as a scientist working on a technology which hold the promise of changing and saving the lives of millions of people by putting an end to the reign of malaria. In my essay book, I discuss the devastating impact of the disease, particularly on women and children in sub-Saharan Africa. It was also an opportunity to highlight the systemic issues that perpetuate this public health crisis and offers hope through innovative interventions.

I had the privilege of meeting other contributors for the launch of “Hope” in London. It was a honour to speak next to other authors such as Përparim Rama, architect and urban planner, Australian philosopher Anthony Howard and Singapore-based venture capitalist Finian Tan.

Thank you to Osvald and Lord Browne for inviting and welcoming me at the beautiful Courtauld Gallery for the launch. Truly a night to remember!
