Science symposiums in Burkina Faso

Posted 31st October 2024 by Latif Ouedraogo

October was a busy month for the Burkina Faso team, as we held stands at two events exhibiting our work and research.

5th International Symposium on Science and Technology

From 07 to 11 October, the National Centre for Scientific and Technical Research (CNRST), in collaboration with Nazi Boni University, organised the 5th International Symposium on Science and Technology in  Bobo-Dioulasso.

The Institut de Recherche en Sciences de la Santé ( IRSS) hosted a stand presenting current research and technological innovations, and this was an excellent opportunity to present the work of the project.

The stand, which was attended by a wide range of stakeholders, provided an opportunity to answer questions from visitors who were interested in finding out more about Target Malaria and our work.

The visitors came from a wide range of backgrounds, including researchers, teachers, students and schoolchildren, all of whom listened attentively to the explanations of the various stages and the work carried out by the project.

From 22 to 24 October 2024, the 3rd edition of the Journées Scientifiques de l’Institut de Recherche en Sciences de la Santé à Koudougou (JSI 2024) was held.

The topic of the event was ‘health research in a context of resilience: contributions for the well-being of the population’. The event was a meeting place for researchers, teachers and students from the world of research and health in Burkina Faso.

On this occasion, the Burkina Faso team had a stand that welcomed visitors curious to learn about the progress of work on the genetically modified mosquito in the fight against malaria.

The visitors, who included the Ministers of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, Health and the Environment, were delighted to have reliable information on the new vector control technology on which the project has been working since 2012 in Burkina Faso.
