Showcasing research and dialogue at the Entebbe Expo

Target Malaria Uganda participated in the Entebbe Business Dialogue and Trade Expo 2026 at the invitation of Entebbe Municipality. Held in September, the event brought together government officials, business leaders, development partners, researchers, innovators, and community members to discuss urban development and growth.
At the expo, Target Malaria Uganda hosted an exhibition tent where visitors explored mosquito specimens, educational materials, and information about malaria research. The displays sparked strong interest and encouraged dialogue about malaria and the project’s work.
Throughout the event, the stakeholder engagement team engaged with diverse audiences, sharing information, listening to community perspectives, and addressing questions and misconceptions.
A key focus was tackling persistent rumours, including the misconception that the Uganda Virus Research Institute (UVRI) releases mosquitoes into neighbouring communities. Through open, evidence-based discussions, the team explained the project’s objectives, research processes, and safeguards, helping participants better understand the research.
The expo also strengthened trust and transparency by facilitating direct engagement with community members, local leaders, and other stakeholders. In addition, participation increased the visibility of Target Malaria Uganda and its contribution to malaria research and control efforts. Entebbe municipal leaders recognized the role of UVRI and Target Malaria in advancing research aimed at reducing the burden of malaria.
The event demonstrated the value of stakeholder engagement in fostering informed dialogue, building trust, and supporting broader malaria control and elimination efforts.
