Building a more inclusive workspace with 10,000 Black Interns

This month, the 10,000 Interns Foundation brought together hundreds of people to the Emirates Stadium in London to celebrate the creation of 10,000 paid internship opportunities in just five years. It was an amazing night surrounded by current interns, alumni, employers, and champions who support the mission of the Foundation.
The Foundation, based in the United Kingdom, started as a small project to address the lack of Black representation in Investment Management in the City of London. Today, 10,000 Black Interns create opportunities across 35 sectors and connect career starters with organizations committed to real change.
During the event we heard from co-founder, Dawid Konotey-Ahulu, and CEO, Rebecca Achieng Ajulu-Bushell, whom were both very inspiring in their speeches detailing the beginnings of the Foundation and the hope it represents in today’s rapidly changing environment. Other speakers included alumni and champions of the Foundation, as well as a performance by the Compozers.
Target Malaria has worked with 10,000 Black Interns since 2023, and we are committed to continuing to work with the Foundation to offer internship opportunities. Each opportunity has been extremely fulfilling for or the team as well as the interns, and we hope to be able to inspire other partners to also consider teaming up with the Foundation to offer an internship this summer.
To play your part in building equity and impact across your sector, pledge here. Pledges close on 14 November 2025.
