New National Stakeholder Engagement Officer in Uganda
Posted 23
It is an honour to join the Target Malaria team at the Uganda Virus Research Institute (UVRI) as the National Stakeholder Engagement Officer. I am a program & policy analyst and advocate, with 20 years of professional working experience in advocacy, program management, capacity building, and strategic partnerships.
Prior to this role, in between July 2018 and October 2020, I worked with youth empowerment organisation Action 4 Health Uganda, in the Uganda Country office, where I was responsible for program management. I provided strategic policy and advocacy support on issues linked to sexual reproductive health, youth livelihood, and the WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) program both in schools and out of schools. In this role, I had oversight on policy and advocacy issues while working with national and international policy and decision makers. I liaised with the donors and in-country stakeholders on program-related issues. I also coordinated with the district local governments and line ministries to maintain a positive and healthy working relationship.
Before taking up this position, I also worked with Protecting Families Against HIV (PREFA) and the TASO Grants Management Unit, as part of a Global Fund programme. My roles in these institutions as a Monitoring and Evaluation Manager and Specialist respectively, enhanced my efficiency in timely and quality reporting, strategic planning, data management and documentation, resource mobilisation and capacity building, amongst others.
I am a member of the TASO Research Ethics Committee (REC). I have obtained a Master’s degree in Project Planning & Management and a Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, with a major in Sociology from the Uganda Management Institute and Makerere University respectively.
I am excited to be joining the team at UVRI and to have the opportunity to put my skills in advocacy, management and strategic partnerships to use in the fight against malaria. I am really looking forward to being involved with Target Malaria and the project’s innovative research to reduce malaria transmission. I am a lover of country music and when I have some free time on my hands, you can find me socializing with friends.
