On December 16, I was invited by Malaria No More UK to speak at the World Malaria Report 2024 launch in the House of Commons in London alongside malaria advocates. The reception was organised by the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Malaria and Neglected Tropical Diseases and Malaria No More UK. Together, we reaffirmed the importance of global partnerships in the fight against malaria. This was an important moment to discuss with UK policymakers the key role of organizations such as the Global Fund and GAVI that provide the tools to fight malaria: bed nets, indoor residual spraying and now the precious malaria vaccines.

As a victim of malaria, I shared my personal experience benefiting from the Global Fund as a child growing up in Uganda. As a Target Malaria spokesperson, I spoke about the role of investing in malaria research, of fostering bold approaches to innovation and R&D and of contributing personally as an entomologist to the development of gene drive mosquitoes as one of the new tools to fight malaria in Africa.
