On the 31st of January 2025, Target Malaria Uganda hosted a consultative meeting with the Uganda Virus Research Institute Community Advisory Board (CAB), a group that was identified to support the Target Malaria team with knowledge of how to engage with the new village communities.
Hinged on the core values of co-development of the research pathway with stakeholders, the purpose of the meeting with the UVRI CAB was to seek their views on research studies that are going to take place in 2025 in selected field sites. The Stakeholder Engagement team and the UVRI CAB agreed on the engagement strategy and which stakeholders to be engaged for the studies to be successful.
The UVRI CAB consists of religious leaders, leaders of fishing communities, local leaders from the Entebbe area, field sites political leaders, and teachers. This group supports Target Malaria’s Stakeholder Engagement team in the planning and development of key stakeholder engagement documents like the engagement strategy and stakeholder maps. It also participates in various stakeholder engagement activities, such as assessment of the stakeholders’ understanding of the project and its studies, feedback on project activities, message reinforcement and gathering of feedback on planned studies.
