The campaign highlights the importance of mosquito research and how gene drive technology could contribute to a world free of malaria.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As a current summer intern working for the communications team, I\u00a0led on the design and development of a wide array of deliverables for this campaign. I created the visuals for our mosquito facts and World Mosquito Day press release and assisted in script-writing for the promotional material of <a href=\"https:\/\/targetmalaria.org\/fr\/tools\/target-malaria-the-game\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Target Malaria: The Game<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I also edited the new video series \u2018Voices from the Team\u2019 and \u2018Voices from the Lab\u2019. I wanted the new video series to complement\u00a0 \u2018Voices from London\u2019, a series of guest interview videos we produced on the occasion of the Great Exhibition Road Festival.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Launching the second chapter of the Gene Drive Video Series&nbsp;<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For World Malaria Day, we shared Part 1 of the Gene Drive video series, <a href=\"https:\/\/youtube.com\/playlist?list=PL4j19OrfcF4weIWSzPOM115-5uwTe7RNW&amp;si=2RTuZl3O1iwZwyLg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">now live on our YouTube<\/a> channel. For World Mosquito Day, we are highlighting Part 2.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Part 2, entitled \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=uFCOXGLPP-g&amp;list=PL4j19OrfcF4weIWSzPOM115-5uwTe7RNW&amp;index=2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">How do we create a gene drive mosquito in the lab?<\/a>\u201d,\u00a0focuses on the development of gene drive mosquitoes to help control the spread of malaria. It features Louise Marston, a Senior Research Technician from Imperial College London. In a secure lab, scientists design genetic modifications, then inject them as DNA into mosquito embryos within a tight one-hour window using microscopic needles. A fluorescent marker reveals which embryos successfully took up the modification, glowing under special light. The game aims to educate and inspire, blending interactive gameplay with gene drive research in the fight against malaria.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Mosquito facts<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We shared two facts about mosquitoes that can transmit malaria. The first fact card focused on the number of <em>Anopheles<\/em> mosquitoes and the number within this species that can transmit the disease, highlighting the <em>Anopheles gambiae<\/em> as one of these few.
