Des chefs d&rsquo;\u00c9tat et des experts du climat ont converg\u00e9 \u00e0 Duba\u00ef pour souligner le lien indiscutable entre le climat et la sant\u00e9, faisant \u00e9cho \u00e0 la d\u00e9claration du directeur g\u00e9n\u00e9ral de l&rsquo;OMS, le Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, selon laquelle le changement climatique est une question urgente de sant\u00e9 publique.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Alors que nous sommes confront\u00e9s \u00e0 la dure r\u00e9alit\u00e9 d&rsquo;un demi-million de vies perdues chaque ann\u00e9e \u00e0 cause du paludisme, dont un enfant succombe chaque minute en Afrique, il est imp\u00e9ratif d&rsquo;int\u00e9grer des solutions innovantes qui s&rsquo;attaquent \u00e0 la fois \u00e0 la maladie et \u00e0 ses implications plus larges en mati\u00e8re de sant\u00e9 publique, exacerb\u00e9es par le changement climatique.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Les perturbations des services de lutte contre le paludisme pendant la pand\u00e9mie de COVID-19 ont intensifi\u00e9 l&rsquo;urgence, entra\u00eenant une augmentation de l&rsquo;incidence et des taux de mortalit\u00e9. Bien que des efforts de stabilisation aient \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9ploy\u00e9s, la situation mondiale est pire qu&rsquo;avant la pand\u00e9mie, avec 5 millions de cas suppl\u00e9mentaires. Les pays africains comme l&rsquo;\u00c9thiopie, l&rsquo;Ouganda et le Nigeria sont les plus touch\u00e9s parmi les cinq pays les plus touch\u00e9s.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le rapport World Malaria 2023, r\u00e9cemment publi\u00e9, souligne les effets directs et indirects du changement climatique sur la transmission et le fardeau du paludisme. Les changements climatiques peuvent avoir un impact direct sur la transmission du paludisme, en affectant la sensibilit\u00e9 du parasite du paludisme et des moustiques \u00e0 la temp\u00e9rature, aux pr\u00e9cipitations et \u00e0 l&rsquo;humidit\u00e9. Les effets indirects se manifestent par des perturbations des services de sant\u00e9 essentiels, des interruptions de la cha\u00eene d&rsquo;approvisionnement, des d\u00e9placements de population et une augmentation de l&rsquo;ins\u00e9curit\u00e9 alimentaire.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Face \u00e0 ces d\u00e9fis, la modification g\u00e9n\u00e9tique des moustiques appara\u00eet comme un alli\u00e9 puissant dans la lutte contre le paludisme. Target Malaria est l&rsquo;un des projets de recherche visant \u00e0 tirer parti d&rsquo;un type de modification g\u00e9n\u00e9tique appel\u00e9e l\u2019impulsion g\u00e9n\u00e9tique pour fausser le taux d&rsquo;h\u00e9r\u00e9dit\u00e9 et affecter la fertilit\u00e9 des moustiques dans le but de r\u00e9duire leur population et la transmission du paludisme en Afrique.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Les moustiques g\u00e9n\u00e9tiquement modifi\u00e9s viendraient compl\u00e9ter les outils de lutte antivectorielle existants et nouveaux, tels que les moustiquaires impr\u00e9gn\u00e9es d&rsquo;insecticide, les m\u00e9dicaments et les vaccins.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Face \u00e0 l&rsquo;impact du changement climatique sur le comportement des moustiques, il est essentiel d&rsquo;aligner les innovations sur l&rsquo;adaptabilit\u00e9 au climat. La recherche, y compris notre travail \u00e0 Target Malaria, met l&rsquo;accent sur l&rsquo;\u00e9volution des comportements des moustiques en raison du changement climatique. Il est donc n\u00e9cessaire de changer d&rsquo;orientation et d&rsquo;inciter les bailleurs de fonds et les chercheurs \u00e0 donner la priorit\u00e9 aux outils adaptables au climat et \u00e0 am\u00e9liorer la disponibilit\u00e9, le co\u00fbt et l&rsquo;accessibilit\u00e9 des tests de diagnostic rapide (TDR).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La collaboration appara\u00eet comme la pierre angulaire de cette entreprise. Il est imp\u00e9ratif de combler les lacunes entre diverses disciplines, de la m\u00e9t\u00e9orologie et du climat \u00e0 la sant\u00e9 publique, en passant par l&rsquo;entomologie, la g\u00e9n\u00e9tique et la biologie mol\u00e9culaire. Gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 la recherche collective, aux partenariats et \u00e0 la prise de d\u00e9cision fond\u00e9e sur des donn\u00e9es probantes, nous pouvons d\u00e9bloquer des solutions africaines innovantes \u00e0 l&rsquo;intersection du changement climatique et de la sant\u00e9 publique.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00c0 la suite de la COP28, il est essentiel que les acteurs africains jouent un r\u00f4le central dans l&rsquo;\u00e9laboration des interventions. Cela permettra de s&rsquo;assurer que les strat\u00e9gies sp\u00e9cifiques au contexte trouvent un \u00e9cho aupr\u00e8s des communaut\u00e9s les plus touch\u00e9es par le paludisme. Parmi les facteurs de r\u00e9ussite essentiels figurent l&rsquo;augmentation du financement de la recherche sur le paludisme, les strat\u00e9gies fond\u00e9es sur les donn\u00e9es, le financement des outils de contr\u00f4le et un engagement politique fort.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>L&rsquo;Afrique est la r\u00e9gion la plus touch\u00e9e par le paludisme, avec 94 % des cas et 95 % des d\u00e9c\u00e8s (Rapport mondial sur le paludisme, 2023).
